Thank you Arielle! I was at a loss as to what to do at first but when the little turkey showed me he wanted back in his brooder box I felt I had to do something to help him be happy and not get picked on! And yes, it did work! I am so thankful it did! lol

This was Chick #1 making its way out of the shell

This lot look like they will be characters!

Out of 8 eggs, 6 were viable, 3 have hatched so far and are now in their brooder tote

:)

Congrats Dragon Lady they are adorable!

They are very cute! and they have me running around after them whenever they cheep!
They even seem to like being picked up. Warm hands I guess lol

Help please! I have tried to hatch two batches of turkey eggs and neither hatched! I don't understand. I did everything by the book
( turned the eggs 3 to 5 times a day, kept humidity at the right level. Was careful with the eggs no shaking bouncing dropping, kept good air circulation. Both clutches made good progress till day 17 then everyone stopped growing.

I have been reading all over backyard chicken trying to find some info for my poor turkey poult. I have noticed your name on a lot of posts and was hoping you could help. You seem to have a lot of experience with turkeys. I put 2 fertilized turkey eggs under my broody chicken, 1 hatched on Saturday and is thriving. The other one hatched on Sunday and is not doing well at all. The one born on Sunday can not walk or stand unassisted. It's legs seem to be off to one side and her spine appears to be crooked. I banded her legs together and that seems to help her walk but only when you put her upright on her feet and she can only take a few unsteady steps. I have been giving her poultry vitamins, and of course feeding her and making sure she gets water and is warm. She does seem to be improving, but she still is not getting up by herself. I have hope for her. Do you have any other suggestions? Do you know what is wrong with her? Wry neck? Can I over dose her on vitamins?

Sounds like maybe flip. I had a few poults recently doing it. Kinda flopping over to its side and laying there kicking its legs until you stand her back upright. The poult would do best if you brought it indoors and set up a brooder check on her every couple hours make sure she stands and walks around eats and drinks if she falls stand her back up do this consistantly. I was luck y to have my poults improve within a few days to a week. Becareful with the kind of water dish you use and put marbles in the dish, one of my poults flipped over into the dish and almost drowned. I found her just in time and she was thankfully ok.

I do also have another poult right now with what I though was a bum leg and was going to cull her but other byc members suggested poly-vi-sol a liquid multi vitamin because she may have a niacin deficiency. I started her on the drops tonight and I hope she improves.

Do you have a pic of your poults so we can see what is going on?

Hey y'all I got a huge question
Look at my turkeys beak
400

400

Don't pay attention to the black speck on the side of his mouth that's just dirt.
But look on top of his beak towards the nose do ya see that huge brown bulge above the black dot with the pink back? What is that! I think it's a infection because the front part of the bulge is a scab because he rubs his beak on EVERYTHING an scrapes that part if the beak till it bleeds...
So do y'all think its infected? Do y'all's turkeys have that bulge?
Can it effect its nose from the swelling? He's breathing a lot though his mouth even when he's not hot.... Witch makes me think the possible infection has entered the nose an clogged it up.
If it is a infection what can I do to treat it an help it go away so he's better?
Thanks.

Josh--please give a few more details--

what is the humidity?
does the incubator have enough air flow-- as the embryo grows the more air is necessary.
What is the temp the incubator is running at? ANy spikes or drop in temps??
