I have a new bunch of miracle Red Bourbon Poults that have started to hatch 6 In the Fowl Spa AKA the spare bath tub and one still in the Incubator attempting to hatch.
I had one that had a big piece of egg shell that would not come free so I soaked the Poult in warm water for a couple of Minutes and the shell came loose no harm to the Poult.

The reason I call them miracle Poults is that we had a bad storm go threw the same night that Oklahoma got hit and we lost our power for 14 hours,
I started up the generator and it died after an hour and would not restart so they got very cool for for several hours.
I also have two Red Bourbon Hens trying to set on one nest of eggs at the same time

between the two of them we will see how things turn out.
Here is a picture of the new Poults in the fowl spa sorry for the quality of the picture the red heat lamp does not help when taking pictures.

Congratulations on your new poults!

Adorable Frank!
LOL, I laughed at your pic tho... I have raised Guinea keets in my big garden tub in my master bath many times. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

@Frank-- the red bourbons are VERY red !! haahaa-- one time the red lighting works!!

Glad they did well despite the loss of power, and hopefully your family is ok too.

I sold 3 more poults and guess what? They took Chuck too. Yea! I really didn't want to eat him on Monday. She took him to just look pretty in her yard. I don't care if they choose to eat him or not but I just couldn't. After seeing those Sweetgrass poults, I looked them up. Guess what I want now? And they are so useless. lol. Only 4 more to go and the incubator with 15 or so are due to hatch before next week end. I need to change my signature to read.
DON'T EVER NAME YOUR POULTRY IF YOU INTEND ON EATING THEM!!!!!

Sally you are right-- don't name anything that is meant to be food, not even "Bacon" or " "thanksgiving"-- those are still names. Makes that day more dificult or more likely the deed never happens. Do what works for you.

you are so right! I do hunt deer, rabbit squirrel, and fish and clean/package everything we get. Not squeamish one bit, and I can filet a fish in like a minute flat...
We processed our first pig last month at home. I raised him from a cute lil pink piglet, his name was Bacon. The day came, DH pulled the trigger and I did the cut. Then I bawled like a baby.
I let my emotions get me, and cared way too much for him, Still miss him! Pigs are another puppy type creature, they are super smart and affectionate. So are Turkeys and I have to stop holding them in my lap

The BBW are like shadows, I am getting tripped every time I take a step anymore. UGH going to miss them.
