Turkeys For 2013

Switching topics slightly ... what do people do with the leftovers? We had a lot more turkey than we could eat, and I made a lot more gravy, and I made a massive amount of broth with a couple dozen extra pairs of turkey legs in it ... so today I'm converting the leftover gravy and stock and some of the leftover meat into Turkey Chowder. I'm excited about this project.

I made a huge turkey pot pie and put it in the freezer for another day. I made shredded barbeque turkey sandwiches. I also made turkey soup. And I saved one large chunk of turkey that I will use today make buffalo chicken(well turkey) dip.

We usually don't have leftovers hanging around for very long.
Between sandwiches, soup, turkey salad and so on (plus freezing some sliced turkey in gravy) it doesn't have the chance to go bad!

plus the barn cats and dogs do plenty of begging for whatever scraps they can weasel us out of

As much as I enjoy my cats I am looking forward to a time without cats - ---- what am I saying? THe rodent population would explode!! Or maybe it is really the chickens that are resposible for the lack of rodents around here!!

Time to worm my crew-- changing to valbazon-- amyone know the dosing??
In chickens the most effective Valbazen dose is 20mg/kg, that's ~.2ml per 2.2 pounds, so if I were going to worm my 30 pound BBW she would get ~2.72ml, but my 15 pound RP would get 1/2 that. Make sense?
