I was just outside taking down four lines of laundry before it rains........all six turkeys had to come "help" me

Every time I folded up some jeans or bib overalls they had to drag them out of the basket and work on those rivets! I had to get dh to come help me so I could get it all in the basket and have it stay in the basket!

I wish I had run for my camera as it was priceless. Got to love 'em.

Mine were helping me trim the trumpet vine yesterday. It seems to have evil plots to take over the house. There was so much that 2 almost-full-grown turkeys were covered. I could only see one head.

Luckily I got to take a picture on the phone. They also stole my taco...

I can totally picture it! Turkeys can be sooo funny & curious.

Carrie, what breed did you end up getting? What sex and how old are yours? Did you drive to the hatchery for pick up?

I love mine, but have to many toms.

Hi there! How are you? We just drove 35 miles to Cackle Hatchery for mine. We got them around my b/d on April 19 as one day olds. They are Bourbon Reds. They crack us up. Leo can't barbeque without them trying to "help" him. LOL I, too, have too many Toms. I have four of them and two hens. but I am so attached to them..Leo says we can roast a couple this winter

We will see. Probably by then it will be ok? I don't want them fighting..they play fight now. they are just gorgeous.

I thought that I was the only one with too friendly turkeys. My red bourbons like to sneak in my house if I leave the door open. ( I found one roosting on my china cabinet last week.)

I did have too many toms as well, maybe it was a tom year. Out of 7 hatched, only 2 were female. I sold two toms, and one jumped into my neighbors dog pen.

Now I have 2 males and two females. The males don't really fight much. One is dominant and likes to show off his feathers, the other hangs out with him and rarely shows his feathers. When not with the male turkeys, the females like to hang out with the chickens.

I find that the turkeys make good protection for the young chickens. The neighborhood cats leave the chicks alone when the turkeys are nearby, and they always are. But the turkeys do like to pick on adult roosters. They must like the red on top of the roosters head.

Turkeys are really cool! I was up at a friends house and she had 2 turkeys (Narragansett?) and they followed us around like dogs. Through the barn, the horse pasture, the goat pen and I really think they would have hopped in my car and drove home with me! lol I wish! Too cute, and I really think they may be on my wish list for next year. I'm liking the looks of the blue slate!

My dh has already commented that he thought if I left a door open they probably would come in the house. I thought he was being 'silly'

I never dreamed they would be so friendly and we enjoy them. Dh was putting some tin panels on the roof of the "barn" when one flew up there to see what he was doing. Oh, we daren't eat anything out in the yard or it will be gone.

They untie my shoes. The steal my jewelry. One of them snatched a scab off my kneee and before I had even gotten the first "OW!" out had taken two good pecks at the blood trail running down my leg. Charming, they are really charming.
