I just woke up came out to check my incubator and the motor is making this humming sound. I can tell if it is still turning but from the sound I would say not. I just purchased this this past weekend and set eggs on Wednesday night. I will be calling tractor supply when they open but what should I do I know there are times it would be hard to turn the eggs without the turner and am trying to figure out if I should try changing them out or what.

No expert here but why can't you take the eggs out of the turner, hand turn them and until you replace the turner component?
Many people here hatch out successfully without a turner at all.

Its funny, I had the turner going, and when I put my eggs in, I noticed a funny sound, I'm new at this too. But I did realize that it was turning, once every 4 hours. Maybe I just noticed when I put eggs in. It does sound odd, but its been 2 weeks and still going.
There is nothing wrong with turning eggs by hand, just mark each side so you know its been turned, x on one side, 0 on the other. Karen

Question about the hand turning. I have tried twice to hatch eggs. The first time out of 2 dozen we got 1 baby. The second time none.

I don't have a turner so I was flipping by hand. I saw on the web about putting the x on one side, 0 on the other and flipping end to end. But looking at the turners, they don't do that, they rock side to side.

So I'm a little confussed on that.

Took thermometer off turner and had to remove a couple of seep egs and sound isn't there anymore and it is turning so I think I will let it so for now. the in temp registers low now but the wiggler is right on I had this happen (temps differing) when I was setting up that is why I put temp onto tray now it is below and to the side so I will just worry about out (probe) temp in wiggler and see what happens.

Oh, Im sorry! What kind of turner is it. Can you geta new motor or return it if it was new. I had my go out with my first hatch and lost the entire hatch. 3-5 days without being turned during the first seven days.

Lessoned learned on my part to pay close attn. You could also just hand turn!!

it is an LG but not like most I have seen with the clips that go around egg. Supposedly New and inproved has 41 egg cups. Seems to be working now I have a chart and temps are checked 4 times a day and written down so we all pay alot of attention to what is going on thank goodness. Seems to be working fine right now so I will keep my fingers crossed for the next 20 days.

Just keep a close eye on it. When I took my turner out and plugged it on the counter, it would turn a little to. Good thing you noticed it so soon.

Either way works. Really, the goal is to prevent the yolk from sticking to the shell, so any turn greater than about 45 deg will unstick them and it will be fine. It's just easier to turn 180 if you are just laying them on the side.
