Turner quit. Can I go on without turning them?

Quote:
I've read of other people who do this and it works alright. My turner isn't working, either, but I left them in the turner and have been turning them by hand by swiveling them half a turn--3-5 times a day. It can be done very quickly--I take the cover off and turn 2 eggs at a time...working my way across the rows and getting the cover back on quuickly. I havent' seen any problem with the temp dropping while I do it. I would put them in the egg cartons, to do this, but the bator is full and I don't think I could fit them all in if they were in the boxes.

Good luck with your knee. My best friend had both hips replaced and she says it's the best thing that she ever did.

I didn't see anywhere about what kind of 'bator you have, still air or fan?? I heard that if it's still air and you have eggs higher in the bator that you could have higher temps in areas. something to think about I think I would just put them on the floors and turn by hand.

I have been using an egg carton to turn my eggs by turing the carton from side to side three times a day. I removed the top off of the carton and cut the bottom out of each egg cup so the egg gets as much air and heat as possible. I personally lean the egg carton against the side of the incubator at about a 45 degree angle, and so far the eggs are all developing. I personally think it is also better on them because the embryo isn't getting jolted three times a day, by individually picking each one up and hand turning it.
