In all honesty, I'd just skip the 5th one. That one was the one that lost my interest about half way through, and I wound up skipping a few pages inbetween....

Lol it really felt like she wrote it just to please the fans. Like she was being pressured. Didn't enjoy it.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought that. It almost seemed like another person wrote it. There was definitely some stress involved in writing it.

I never had the interest to read the Harry Potter books. I read Twilight because all of my friends were (I'm a teen) and I still do kind of like it. Not because it's written very well, but because it kept my interest and it gave me something to talk with my friends about. It doesn't matter whether it won any awards or not, so long as it isn't my Spanish textbook.

My big issue with the Twilight series is the main character's attitude. The whole "I can't live without this man" thing. Seriously? Is that what we want to teach our teenage and preteen girls? That death is preferable than life without this boy we met in high school? No man is worth killing yourself over. Period. At least in the Potter books the girls are just as strong in mind and spirit as the boys. Seems a healthier attitude all around.

SOO very true ! I totally agree, and girls now a days already seem to allow their boyfriends to just sit at home and play video games while she goes off to work every single day. Just insane!

I honestly didn't see any mental abuse whatsoever. I only saw love. I guess it's one of those "in the moment" kinds of things. You'd have to be in her shoes to understand. She found the one person that would love her no matter what and wanted what was best for her - that's why Edward left her, not to torment her mind. At the time he had no idea what his absence would do to her psychologically. And really, all she wanted was to be with him forever regardless of life or death. Love makes people do stupid things, but come one people! Do you honestly think vampires are real? Do you think stuff like this would happen in real life? I know a lot of girls at my school who have read the book and not one of them is suicidal. They are all upbeat and happy with themselves. It's just another "Romeo and Juliet" from my perspective.

That's what's great about reading these books. What if there IS another little world that we don't know about out there? What if they ARE hiding in society? Highly unlikely, but I'm a dreamer.

It's not the fact that a vampire is going to come waltzing up and proclaim his love and undying thirst for you, it's what the girls reading the books see. They see a girl who NEEDS a man. A man no matter what. The first thing...she sees the golden-retriever guy and decides she won't date him (who does that FIRST thing anyway?!) Next, she sees Edward and loves him. He falls away and she is pining. She can't continue until another man rescues her, when she could have rescued herself with time.
