Twin duck eggs

How big were the yolks?
Twins just don't have enough space for maturing.
The yolks were normal size
These babies would have just been on the start of hatch
Missing the air cell would mean 48-72 hours before hatch giving them time to absorb
I have hatched a baby that bruised the wrong end and I made a safety hole in the bruise and it took 52 more hours for her to hatch
They ran out of air
All they needed was a safety hole in the bruise
Not their fault it was mine

So sorry you lost the babies. 😔:hugsHopefully you can catch the other two.
Thank you
I’m trying. They are still moving
We may try to remove some shell moisten the membrane and lay a fresh cleaned shell over the area to help keep it moist
This will give a better idea of where the babies are and give them more flexibility to move
I’m talking with a Byc member who is very good at assisted hatches and who helped me learn how to assist
This maybe the best chance we have to save the last egg
But it’s also very risky so it has to be done carefully
I have everything ready to go I’m just trying to find the courage

Well I started the journey
I found baby 1 with its head and beak into the air cell but not through the membrane as it couldn’t move to pierce it. Luckily I was able to save this baby for now. It’s chirping and breathing
I tried to remove more shell and outer membrane further down the egg but the outer membrane was sticking to the inner and I wasn’t able to separate it to find baby 2 yet
I have moistened it now waiting to try again
Baby 1 I can hear chirping away as I wrote this
Please pray for blizzard and ice
We may still have a shot to save them
It’s going to be a long 2 days but we’ll worth it

I'm so sorry about the other two ducklings😔 I lost all my eggs a the first time I tried setting some and I was absolutely devastated... losing eggs you've been incubating is hard enough, but especially so when you put in extra care and effort. Prayers for you and for Blizzard and Ice🙏
You did all you could for the 1st two babies... as many have said, it's a miracle in itself that they made it this far! Make sure to take care of yourself as well- I hope your toe gets better soon!

I want to thank all of you for the support love and prayers
I did everything I knew how to do and although I got them this far I still failed them in the end
Blizzard and ice have both passed as well
Blizzard was so close to being ready it really breaks me as she talked to me and was breathing
But when I went to check again I saw she was hardly breathing
I tried ti open more shell to give her room to breath and I could see she didn’t have much yolk left. I tried ti save her but I was a few mins to late
Ice did break the membrane but never got the shell so I had no idea where to find it’s beak
I think it died previously as it had a huge yolk left
I have learned a lot on this journey
Getting them to hatch was easy. Having the smaller air cell did help but I think even smaller would have been better
All 4 babies fully developed and nobody was tangled around each other
But at hatch time it’s almost impossible to know when to help without knowing exactly where the beaks are
I believe with the small yolk blizzard had she had got through the membrane abc was in the air cell as she had to be absorbing and breathing for it to be down
I took a risk opening them but it was one I had to try
I will never do twins again as it’s to hard at hatch to get it right to save them but I don’t regret trying and learning from this experience
Rip my special little ones
