I think the 3rd piece was just a meat spot. Only 2 had eyes.My thoughts also!!!
In my case, it was even a much smaller egg than most of my girls lay, so I never expected it to get far. I think quitters between day 7-12 are most common.Most of the time twins don't make it to hatch day. There are a couple of success stories from several years ago but there is not usually enough room in the egg for both to develop properly. Good luck...
I set a triple a few years ago, most doubles only make it to day 10, my triple, made it to day 17 and died. Only one of the 3 embryos made it to the 17.

My current double, looks like it may just go to day 10, only one yolk looks fertile. I am on day 2. There may be a chance for this egg though if only one yolk is going. Unless the one yolk that is not fertile goes bad. I know not to set, but I am going to set anyhow.
