Twisted back/legs.... falling and laying on her side?

We think as a baby Sophia came out of the shell in a deformed way. She has always had a twisted back/legs, and being mated by a rooster in her last home does not help. We think the rooster, plus we think she may of fell out of the coop 3 feet of the ground may have something to do with it.

We think its neurological issues, but we can't afford to take her to a vet. She would be dead if we hadn't taken her from her last home, most likely. We want to know if there are any home remedies... or ways of telling if she has a broken wing, or leg.

She flops over like this and will just lay on her side (thankfully our other hens have sympathy for her and leave her alone.) She struggles to get up. Should we wrap up her leg, or make some kind of cast to straiten her body? Any advice?

This bird has a pretty poor quality of life. She is too old for any kinds of interventions to be effective. I would put her down before the flock gets at her. They are accepting now, but that is going to change at any point.

She's only 9 months old! The flock is all special needs birds, 2 being blind, one being old and sweet, and the other 2 are decently nice to her.

ETA: And she is eating and drinking plenty, and laying us a egg a day. She still goes out to free range even, but she falls over atleast 3 times every 5 minutes, I would say.

She was probably too old at 9 weeks. By 18 weeks their skeletons are done growing and their bones start to harden up. Nine months is way too old to achieve any results.

I am with you. If she is laying she must be happy. If she has fallen over all her life it is what she is used to and doesn't know what she is missing. It is not like she could walk normally and had an injury. She is not pining for what she has lost!
Let her be and let her carry on bouncing. Someone designed her that way and she was meant to be in your care x

A thought.. Poly Vi Sol worked when my boy Carl was spinning around in circles. He definitely had nurological issues. Unfortunately he passed away.. but it did HELP.

Has she always done this?

Could she be vitamin deficient?

Yes, she has always done this, but its got worse over the months.
I'm not sure.... its a possibility... what would I give her if she was VD?

You can try poly vi sol .5 mls per day and 400 ius of vitamin E twice daily. Some add a small piece of Selenium per day also.

It looks like her right leg is the problem right? You should try sitting her up very gently and make a cast for her.. Keep eyes on her since she can't get up quick because there always predators out there

Exactly. This will not hurt her even if she wasn't vitamin deficient. Worth a try for sure.
