Two chickens missing

Do you know why they would even do this? Like why would they have a reason to go into hiding?
I'm not exactly sure, but some of my girls will squeeze themselves into tight places where they get stuck if they were scared or getting picked on. Sometimes chickens will lay a mountain of eggs outside the coop where they normally don't and will "hide" because they are broody and lay on the eggs.

I just needed to add this, one chicken was a gamefowl and she was really fast and lean and the other was a barred rock hen, who was high in the pecking order with her sisters. The gamefowl I'd understand but a barred rock not so much. We dont really have predators and the chickens seemed undisturbed unlike when we had the mink attack back in late Februaury a year ago.

If this was the case do you think they'd still be alive? I mean they've been missing for a while now and I'm afraid to find them

Do you feed treats. My chickens like to hide on me lately when I've let them out. The snow is finally melting here and there is bare ground for them to scratch. I just rustle the mealworm bag and they come running.

My husband and I have decided to put up motion sensor lights with alarms to warn us of predators as our neighbor has lost a lot of fowl in the recent months. We know there is a fox in the neighborhood. That along with a game
Camera will let us know what we are going to be dealing with. Overboard maybe but we are protective.
It's always good to be protective, we just recently moved into this new house though and dont have any cameras or anything set up. We didnt have to set them up at our old house since we didnt have a problem like this. My dad and I are looking into game cameras though, do you have any recommendations?

Not really. We are going to Dickssporting goods and just picking up a cheap $50.00 one. I have X10cams for the yard from years ago that we will also be using.

How long have they been missing? I know it's hard and upsetting but you should always still look for them.
We've been searching high and low for them. I dont live with my dad during the week, but he's been looking for them as well. Today marks the day they've been missing for a week. I'm just really scared they're not okay
