    First hen...Minorca? Exchequer Leghorn?

    Second hen...I was told she's a Houdan, but I don't think that's right.

The first one could be a Minorca. Looks like it in the face but the tail looks to up-right. Also dont know if they come in mottled. Most Leghorns have yellow legs and feet. Not sure about the second one but its dark face and legs have me confused.... Maybe a silkie mix?

    The second photo:

I have some cross breed hens that look like her, 'parents' were a cross breed houdan x cross breed crested hen.

SO she may have houdan in her. mine are very nice chickens and good layers.

    You guys have good eyes.

I thought Ancona also for the first one.

The second one had me puzzled by the black comb. When I pulled her feathers back to check for lice, I saw black skin and thought to myself...silkie??? But her feathers are nothing like a silkie. Her personality, on the other hand, is 100% silkie.

I think you're right on both.

    For the second pic...

Has anyone ever had a silkie mix with feathers that were nothing like silkie feathers?
