Two chickens with feather loss = ??

Does anyone else here have any thoughts on LisaParksDurant's situation she inserted in this thread? (I'm so used to using social media like FB, but I think the messages on this forum's threads do not work the same way; messages are not as easily visible to everyone.)

I'm dealing with something similar, but I really think my early moulter is the culprit for the plethora of feathers all over my yard. I asked the exact same thing earlier this week, and received the same answers: early moult, parasites, feed.

I'll start researching worm relief right now. what can it hurt even if they don't have them

You'll be able to find threads here on worms and how to tell whether your chickens have them, and if so, what kind... since not all dewormers handle the same worms. If you do end up deworming, & if Valbazen is indicated for that type, here's a really short thread with Valbazen dosage & reason for using it (it kills the worms over a period of days rather than immediately, which can dangerously overload the chickens' systems). In my experience, searching this forum for info that Dawg 53 has posted/answered about worming has been well respected and spot on. Another thing about Valbazen is that you can put that dosage on a little bread and feed them individually so they get their dose. That's the way I do it. And be sure to repeat in the required time, to kill the unhatched eggs, just as you would with most external parasite treatments.
