Hi all
These are my two 3 wk old chicks, sold to me as Sapphire Gem by a general store that had about 13 different breeds come in on that busy morning. I am aware this breed is newer and can be tough to ID and sex especially if they aren't bred just so. I know maybe this will make it difficult this early but I am hoping someone can recognize characteristics in the breed it might actually be? Every photo/vid I have found online or been shown of Sapphire Gem babies shows them fully light lavender grey by 2 weeks so I am pretty skeptical they are what I had hoped for, as mine have lots of deep gray even black feathers mixed with dots of light grey. Maybe they are cockerels of the correct breed- the photos I've seen of adult SG males have much darker plumage.
As far as other characteristics they are EXTREMELY hyper. I have never encountered chicks that full on zoom around the brooder all day long at 2 weeks and on. Theyre also huge and walk very tall. They cant stand to be picked up or held either, and we've had them since day 2.
Anyway I would love some experts to weigh in. I just want to get any idea of what I am dealing with obviously so I can better diagnose breed specific issues etc going forward. Thanks everyone. Pics below.

That would be so helpful! All the photos I’ve seen show them presenting very light grey first feathers at 2 weeks. All over. BR have more defined black and white *stripes* normally. But I think they look closer to that for sure. Very confusing at this point. I’ll be patient of course but I’d rather know early on as we all want to.

Just so you know these are not my birds
Look at those cuties.
Thanks for the pics.
Yes that’s what they’re supposed to look like at a few days to a week old or so. Mine did. Then they’re supppsed to have light grey feathers come in strongly. Or so I’ve read. That’s just the thing. I’m not even sure because I’m hearing different takes.
