Two dead chicks in brooder pen

But you do not know if coccidiosis is the cause of death, do you? You have not seen bloody poops, right? I mean the Corid will not hurt them, but .... it still may not address the problem.

Get the Corid from TSC or farm stores:

That is for treatment in case that is what killed your chicks. Dosage is 2 tsp per gallon for 5 days. Medicated feed has the same ingredient amprollium in a much smaller amount. But since you may have an outbreak, get the Corid now, and treat for 5 days. Corid is very safe for all chickens even if they don’t have coccidiosis. Just do not use vitamins during the 5 day treatmenr. Then if you wish you can use medicated feed.

Where could this have come from? My older chickens were all raised in the same pen and none of them have been sick. I cleaned the pen and added fresh bedding (horse pellets) before putting the chicks in the run.

I did get this new batch from TSC, but I would've expected to see symptoms sooner than this if they were sick when I got them.

Since the chicks are in the run, should I treat my older chickens as well?

Older chickens have usually built up a tolerance for coccidia in the soil and in the poop by 4 months. They get it from soil, poop, and probably from the sand as well.
