Over 48 hours ago mamas first duckling hatched and her second hatched this morning. There is roughly 10 eggs left in the nest and when I peeked I did not see any signs of others ready to hatch. As a first timer I am nervous and have a few questions if anyone can help me please and thank you. 1. Since mama has been sitting non stop now for almost five days will she know when there are no more ducklings hatching and will she know when it’s time to leave the nest? She has food and water and so do the ducklings but I’m concerned that she may stay too long thinking more eggs will hatch.
2. My other mama I believe is sitting on dead or infertile eggs. I think this is so because she is not committing as much as other mama. She leaves the nest five or so times a day and she started sitting roughly the same time as the other mama. She also tries to sneak onto the other nest and push the other duck off.
3. When will the ducks become “unbroody”? As long as they are sitting on eggs whether alive or dead will she remain broody?
Thank you so much and I apologize for the questions, I’m quite worried over things.

First, you should put up some kind of partisan to keep this wanna-be broody off the mama that is hatching nest. This duck can cause fighting and trampled ducklings.
My Muscovy are sitting on nothing and still broody so you probably should do some candling to see if there is any life in any of the eggs the one that keeps getting up has. If there isn't toss the eggs tear up the nest and make sure she can't get to this one that has ducklings and eggs yet. It will take a while for the broody hormone to dissipate but it will. Usually around day 3 of first duckling hatching mama duck will want to leave the nest so you'll need to be ready with plan B if you start seeing any signs of hatching. Like warming up the incubator just in case.
