Complete agreement. Some of the stolen garden produce and crops have been found being sold on street corners and farmers markets by people who are dishonest, not poor. If poverty caused crime, why is Morocco so peaceful?​

Sorry, but poverty does not cause crime; selfishness and a lack of ethics combined with a sense of entitlement cause crime.

If you want an example of how malignant the sense of entitlement and lack of ethics are as a society wide problem - listen to all of the people whining because they knowingly bought properties they couldn't afford with the expectation of making a profit who now want us to subsidize them. I feel for those who lost houses because of losing jobs or wage cuts - but the liar's loan folks and the others who bought what they couldn't pay for had no intention of sharing their profits with us - so why should we be eager to accept their generous offer to share their losses? Most can't be helped by programs to reduce payments because they bought so much more than they could afford.

I'm going to attempt to electrify my chicken tractor next spring using a solar powered box, and the gate will be hot as well. We live out in the country so I don't think that two-legged predators will be a problem, but I don't want the critters to find out that one part of the coop isn't hot. I would love to see a person try to open the coop though, once it's electrified.

I think it will be a popular prank at our house in the future: "Hey, can you go check the nests for eggs?"

Poverty is not an excuse to turn into a thief. There are too many charities that will feed and give assistance, not to mention government entities. When I was a teenager I lived in a tiny rural community, surronded by range land. Range land is government owned land that a rancher can lease to run cattle or horses. I am talking thousands of acres. A woman I knew had horses out, she went to check them and one young colt, 3 years old had been shot and butchered. Only one rear quater was taken. The culprit was a man claiming to need to feed his family. He could have shot a deer, or a steer, but he was so lazy he shot a horse who proabably just walked right up to him. And then only took a fraction of the meat. Two lazy to haul it all away. To make it even worse the horses owner was a woman, noted for her generosity, and her giving things away if you just said you liked them. She would have gladly fed this guys family.

That is awful! I can't believe it. I thought by two legged predators you meant hawks and eagles - three eagles flew over my yard this morning but the snow is keeping the chickens inside so they weren't out to be swept up. I'm so sorry that the two legged predators you refer to were low down people. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry for ur loss. Unfortunately this type of person is not going away so we just have to secure things the best we can. They are as bad, in fact worse than animals because they know they are doing wrong. Just remember that u get what u sow and a higher power will take care of them.
