Hi guys! I'm brand new to owning chickens. Long story short, one chicken we thought was a hen turned out to be a rooster. Shortly after we had a girl go broody, and her eggs were fertilized. During her broodiness, another hen went broody and stole the nest. We split up the eggs for both girls and they've been sitting fine. Hatch day has come for Laya and she has one baby. Mayday (the other broody) has had one chick hatch, but is sitting on 5 more eggs that are hatching any day.

The problem is that Laya will attack Mayday's chick. What do we do? Separate? If so for how long? Any help would be great!

Glad you came to join us!

I highly recommend a method where they can see each other but not be in contact. It may settle down soon, but you don't want to chance the little chick getting killed!

Here are a couple of good articles for you. These and many more helpful articles can be found in the Learning Center;
