The next time you use your havaheat trap WIRE the bait to the pan so the critter has to stay put and relly work at it trying to take it out. And test fire your trap several times to make sure it is not hanging up somehow. These traps work best on a flat surface as if they are slanted or at an angle they can not fire correctly or not Lock and the critter can push out.
If its a fox, it is very unlikely you will catch him in this type of trap.
The only way we have caught fox was with foot holds, snares and conabear body grip.
Be very carefull if you deside to use these as you can easily take out your or your neighbors dog or cat.
