So very sorry for your loss and these poor babies that are wounded. I think @casportpony would be best to address this she has much knowledge on wounds and care. I am pretty sure blue kote isn’t for deep wounds

Welcome to BYC, sorry your ducks got attacked. If they were mine i would not use blue kote, I would flush the wounds well with saline and chlorhexidine or saline and betadine. Can you get either of those?

I have actually been very hesitant to use the Blu KOTE at all , even in the more superficial wounds. Today’s the first day I spread just a little on a couple of them but the main course of treatment has just been a intersubject spray and salve. She is definitely in her own space healing. And seems to be in ok spirits considering! Thank you so much for your response

Blu-kote isn't needed or prescribed to poultry...
Just wash it out and if needed use a antiseptic spray to clean.

So sorry for delayed response ... I think I’m just figuring out how to check responses etc on the site lol. But I will try the saline for sure! Thank you so much. We’re you able to see the picture and how deep the wound is? Would you recommend washing it while it is that exposed

By the way blue kote is fine to use just not for deep wounds. I’ve used it mainly for my chickens. When there is a wound chickens can be relentless an blue kote will disguise a wound. It’s not rec on animals that are destined for food.

All wounds should be cleaned and flushed as soon as noticed, never wait as this delay in treatment can allow infection to set it. Most vets recommended creating a margin around the wound. In mammals, this is done by shaving the hair back 1/2" to 1" from the edge of the wounds. In waterfowl, poultry, and other birds, the feathers are plucked 1/2" to 1" from the edge. To avoid tearing of the skin, pluck in the direction they are growing. Once you have created a margin, remove all visible debris and tissue, then flush with saline. It is also recommended to flush with a mixture of saline and chlorhexidine or a mixture of saline and betadine. Once you have cleaned to sound properly you could slather some Neosporin on it, and you might even want to try wrapping it. It's also advisable to start an antibiotic. Do you have any antibiotics?

I do have a duck house for the ducks but sometimes if it’s not too cold I let them sleep out by the pond bc they prefer it... however the 3 nights leading up to the attack they’d been sleeping up by porch which was so strange. I knew .. I just knew I should’ve locked them up and so that is where they were attacked less than a foot away from my front door! And where Rowan was found (dead) was up near the porch as well, right on the other side of the wall where our 3 dogs sleep! So this thing was brave ...

So. This may be a silly question but I thought their feathers that are up close to the skin carried Blood ? By plucking them it will not cause bleeding?
I have a antiseptic spray that I’ve been using and fuera ointment. But she is Just so greasy and just constantly trying to clean it off, so I thought an meeting her get in the tub today to just let her relax in the water ? The wound is healing well, I think I will send a picture and maybe you could let me know if bathing is a bad idea for her?

and unfortunately I do not have antibiotics for her

the side by side pic is Monday (the day I found her ) and yesterday... the yellow is just the fuera ointment and the purple is the Blu KOTE I jus sprayed lightly on a couple surface wounds up top.
