I cannot believe the luck I have had this spring! I had to put down a pullet/hen last month from being eggbound and unable to pass it. This week I have not one, but TWO pullets with sour crop! WTH? I noticed the first one yesterday and felt her to see what was going on, it was like her whole breast was ready to drag on the ground. Today I went back and sure enough, no change, mushy and large. So, I am checking on the birds in the other coop and here's another one! I am going to guess feed is the culprit, but I don't know if it is the feed from the elevator or if it is the corn my kids keep giving them where they picked some out of the field that was missed this spring. Yes, I said this spring. It was left standing and looks fine, but I think it is too much for the birds to handle even with the grit. So, no more of the whole kernel corn. And these are pullets that are close to laying, not babies. This has just been one crazy spring with chickens, I will tell you!

FYI, I have the two in a rabbit cage and I am only giving them ACV with their water and nothing else until they clear up, then I will start them out with plain yogurt. One has odd looking poop, but the other seems to have normal looking ones. When I say odd, I mean little balls of mushy poop the size of a small BB with very watery, clear liquid. The older one is the one with the odd poops.

Wish me luck.

I was going to say I wonder if they'd gotten into bad/old feed or something but it looks like you've already figured it out. I've not dealt with sour crop yet but I know others give a bit of olive oil on bread to help them pass things thru. Good luck!
