I am using 2 x 4's as the roosts. My girls prefer the flat surface to a rounded.
For the outside, I am facing a similar problem and also a slope so what I am doing is this.
Run chicken wire from the inside bottom of the run, under the 2 x 4's and out away from the run about a foot - foot and a half...on top of the ground. I am then putting top soil on the top of the wire with rocks as extra weight. I plan on planting flowers around the run on that top soil to keep it in place. Imagine looking at your run head on from the end...hope this silly diagram helps.

Result...diggers can dig and they hit rocks and chicken wire.
