Two questions for gun control people

Did you try standing in front of one while someone was firing it?

You considered it a low blow because it doesn't suit the any-gun-any-place-any person brigade to imagine what that gun did to those kids. The more people who do, the sooner you will be free of the horrors that are being perpetrated.
I thought it was a low blow because i felt you were saying that a woman practicing how to properly use a firearm at a training course was close to what the children felt. Firearms use to be okay at schools in some situations they still are. We have a trap team here and the JROTC has competitions with actual rifles.

Who said to arm the teacher with a AR ? Having gun free zones and being surprised when that's where some nut attacks is clearly the gross stupidity of the gun ban people.
Please tell me what charges would the teacher face for shooting someone that was trying to kill all the kids ? Can you really think that any person defending 20 6 year old kids would face charges ??
What if he had come to the class with a bat and tried to smash there skulls in. Would you be glad the teacher was unarmed ? You would be glad the kids that were killed wouldn't have to see their teacher shoot a bad guy.
Or would you be happier with the U.S. becoming a country with a much more violent crime rate like England ?

We had a discussion about teachers protecting their students with guns with a friend of ours who is a big city police officer who has had experience on swat. He said for the most part, when it comes down to it there are very few people who can pull that trigger (he said no matter what is coming at them). He is military trained and served over seas and said that other policemen women that he's worked/trained with --they can have trouble even pulling the trigger on a human being--even if it's defending their own life or others. It's not an easy thing. He didn't think that training our teachers is the solution and he figured there's going to be error with half-hearted people so to speak. Or those who will refuse to do it. His solution is that of the NRA--put police officers at the entrances of the schools. Until things get sorted here in protecting our soft targets--schools, colleges, shopping malls. It's expensive but so is rebuilding those demolished insane assylums. This whole country is a mess with our mentally ill in 1/2 way houses being chaperoned to McDonalds with chaperones way way out of their comfort zone taking them to such public places. I could go on. But taking guns away from responsible people is not the solution. Criminals and desperate whackos will find an illegal gun, because they don't care if they break those laws....

And final note and quote from our good friend, "I'm pretty sure there is already a law in this country that says it's illegal to shoot somebody."

Utah has allowed teachers to carry it they want to. Now not all teachers are armed and there maybe some schools that don't have any teachers armed but the bad guys don't know what school that might be. there's no way to tell what teacher is armed and what one isn't. They don't wear a big A on their shirt. I would be very surprised to hear of a school shooting in Utah. We need to end the gun free zones. You cant put an armed guard at every entrance and exit to every school.

The same civilized world where all socialist countries are one person with great handouts away from having another Nazi Germany? In our country we have rights other countries have "privileges". We need to come to the 21st century and realize that these are the hunting rifles of today and are some of the best self defense weapons, besides in 20-30 years these firearms will be considered as innocent as a ruger 10/22

Your first sentence is neither correct nor relevant to the topic.

I agree that some folk in the any-gun-any-person-any-place brigade do need to come into the 21st Century. AR15s, according to gun experts I have listened to, are not hunting rifles and not appropriate in any civilian hands. Their only purpose is to kill people and, in the last few massacres in the US , they have been used for just that. I understand that people who just want to play soldiers at the gun club will lose this particular weapon but, surely, the greater good of the community must be considered above that.

Did you notice in the video that the girlie had no idea how to handle the gun after firing? It's a wonder she didn't mash her feet. Also, in the background, were some bottles that looked very much like beer bottles. Tut tut!

I'm willing to accept that you live on a planet different from that of people who are prepared to think rationally through the recent crazy proposals for stocking schools with guns. The logical step is to start to eliminate those weapons, not increase the numbers of them. The NRA, of course, would love to see kids grow up surrounded by AR15s. Just think of the increase in future sales for the NRAs sponsors.

I'm following you dennis and for the most part I think we're on the same page. But I gotta say I'm worried about soft people that think they might have it in them. And then we got a loose gun that ends up in the wrong hands, too. Whose to say a nut job won't take that chance. I think whatever the solution its going to be an expensive one unfortunately. We need to get our state hospitals up and running and quit trying to main stream these crazy people. My Mom used to be a nurse in a state hospital. She shook her head when they were putting Sex Offenders back on the street (half way houses). The fast food restaurant story is actually a version of a story that she told me personally happend to her. A little nurse watching over these morons....She didn't feel in control of the situation at all but it was all mandated by our "we know best government". They made these cuts to save them money and now look what we're dealing with. It's a crying shame all in the name of the almighty buck.

Same issue no matter who you arm. Columbine's guard, a 15-year veteran of the Jefferson County, Colo., Sheriff’s Office didn't have it in him. He fire, missed an failed to give chase.

Also the shooting in NYC about 2 months ago two NYPD officers fired 16(?) rounds between them to hit one man arms length away an shot up a street full of people.

Quote: I try to stay away from the personal attacks you seem to resort to. You also try to put words that people haven't used to inflame what their saying. No one said to arm teachers with AR's. No one said to stock the schools with guns. Just because someone doesn't agree with what you think is logical, doesn't make what they say irrational or crazy.
When you make everyplace a gun free zone then the crazies will run wild. Not only will the bad guys be the only ones armed, they wont even have to be armed with guns. A baseball bat will break a person up real bad. Now the crazies are attacking gun free zones so we'll make everyplace a gun free zone just to make it easier for them.
AR's are good hunting and predator protection guns. So the people who told you different are wrong.

I agree with the mental health issue. But just allowing permitted teachers to carry puts a deterrent to attacking schools. What would the discussion be if it was a terrorist who had come in to the country and attacked that school ?
