How many hens do you have?
When I had two roos to 16 hens, the alpha was doing the majority of the mating and the sub. was sneaking in enough matings to ensure that all my eggs were fertile.
Now that my sub. is the only roo to 14 hens, he's still managing to mate all the hens, some (his favorites) just more than others.

If the sub roo has only been there 2 days then you need to give him more time before you can judge how he will be in your flock.

Give him about 3-4 weeks.
