Will there be a problem using two small coops in one big run? I might have the opportunity to get two smaller used coops but they only fit four to six chickens each Coop. I have eight chicks on the way this April. Is it better to just build one big coop?

If not would the two small coops suffice until we get the big one built?
Thank you!

I would think all the birds would just try to roost together. Couldn’t you merge the two coops?

I was thinking about that too maybe taking a wall down and connecting them.

I have two coops, one nominally for 8 and one for 6, and my flock of 9 have, after quite a lot of to-ing and fro-ing as the chicks have grown up, developed a pattern of 7 of them (the 6 hens and the dominant rooster) piling into the smaller one, leaving/forcing the two young cocks to roost in the larger one :gig There is no pen here so they are only sleeping - and laying - in the coops (the girls use both nest boxes in both coops). Having multiple coops works for me and them; no issues in the morning, or during the day. They come together as a single flock as soon as I let them out.

Yes and Probably.

Got pics of these coops?
Some can be easily modified or joined together, others are not worth the trouble.
A smaller coop might hold the 8 thru most the summer while you build your big coop.
Smaller coops can come in handy down the road.

I have two coops that are separated with one big run in the middle. There is also a chicken/goose/dog sized door in the middle of the run that can be closed off if needed. (Sometimes I use the smaller coop for chicks) I've got feed and water in both sides of the run. Most of the chickens go back and forth between the two, but (almost) always sleep in their own coops! I do get a random one from time to time who switches sides...:idunno
