Two week old chicks with lice

Thanks Dawg53...on both posts.

I'm attaching a few images to see if maybe you guys think there are any other issues I need to address.

This is the worst of the two black sexlinks. They at least have energy which is encouraging. Dusted them lightly by hand yesterday and put some olive oil on the bald spots. I may be too hopeful but I THINK I see the start of new feathers coming in.

Below is the Silkie I found the single louse on. Are they really supposed to look this crazy with the curly feathers or is she perhaps the original bearer of the lice? The other Silkie is calmer and less wild/ un-kept (This one is so SPASTIC my buddy who gave her to me named her "Tweak" which is very fitting)

Yeah, they'll be ugly looking til they're feathered out. I forgot to mention that you'll want to redust them again in 7-10 days to kill any nits hatched from eggs. That will end the lice lifecycle. If you see them scratching and shedding fluff/feathers afterwards, it's normal for them to do this in order to grow the "real" feathers so to speak. The fluff kinda irritates them and they scratch themselves to remove them.

I have 6 Serama chicks that are less than a week old. I noticed yesterday that they had lice. I used Garden and Poultry Dust with permethrin and lightly dusted the chicks per orders from our vet. (Let's just say there were more than I originally thought.) They were falling off everywhere. I have them in a brooder now and am hoping to take care of the lice problem before they enter our new coop. I will dust them again in a week.
