Tylan 50 Help

The vets office I volunteer at gladly gave me two 22 gauge 3/4 inch needles. They look so much smaller and hopefully won't make the red mark the 20 gauge one did. Before I gave him his shot, he didn't want to crow, he obviously couldn't due to mucus or trouble breathing but when I pulled up in the drive way today about 10 minutes ago he was crowing. The garage is locked and only my dad has a key so I have to wait for him to get home so I can get to him plus he is going to hold him for me while I give him the second shot (I gave him the first on the right breast muscle and I did the hold one foot and tilt them on their side and press them into your chest and I'm right handed so it worked out but today if I did it myself I would have to use my left hand and I don't trust it haha). I started drawing up the medicine in the meantime and getting everything ready and the little bugger still kept and keeps crowing!! I know he is starting to feel better now! What do you think? :D

It was obvious the smaller needle hurt less he only flinched but didn't fuss this time. There is a smaller red mark where I'm sure it irritated the skin where I put the needle in. I looked at the other site where I gave it yesterday using the 20 gauge and it looks like there is a very small scab that might be forming. Is this normal?

I used the flashlight on my iphone to get a better look in the light at the 20 gauge injection site. You said if it turned black it might be necrosis but it just looks like a dark red, like a scab. It's not black, yet at least. Is scabbing normal? Comparing the 20 gauge needle to a maybe 2 pound rooster it looked like the needle put a pretty good hole relative to body size but not like a gaping hole, so would the scab be normal? And it's very small.

Ok. I'm so sorry to be a bother I'm just like I don't want to put him through this if it turns into a different direction and brings up another illness/disease (necrosis). He is peppy and happy and crowing and cackling, something I haven't heard him do in two weeks.

He's on the mend for sure. And so are you. If he's crowing again that is great news. Keep up the loving care! I love it when people tend to their animals with such care. Thanks for sharing your story. And to all the people who posted to help you and others. I appreciate this site so much!!!!!!
