Tylan 50 & other medication questions

Are you weighing her daily? At her age she should be making daily weight gains, and she should be drinking close to 10-18% of her weight per day. Are you sure she's getting enough water? Is a vet an option?

@minihorse927 has used injectable Tylan before and was told to give the injections 3 times an day, which is what all my books say. Cattle and swine (I think) are the only ones that get 1 shot per day.

No, but I will start weighing her daily now. She is 0.76kg (1.67lbs) today. She is in the bird hospital getting fluids and tube feeding as we speak.
I'll definitely ask about the Tylan dosage and frequency, maybe I'm doing that wrong, although her respiratory symptoms really have been improving.

Yes I have used tylan 50 injectable as an injection. I had a bird who had aspergillosis(sp?) and developed a respiratory infection on top of it and was told to use tylan 50 @.2cc per pound of body weight 3 times daily for 5 days. It did treat the respiratory in about 3.5 days and the rattling in her chest was gone. Also was prescribed a antifungal but cannot remember what that was. Never had a sick one since and she is still here. Have also used tylan 50 to treat an ear infection recently.

Are you sure she isn't also carrying cocci?

I have to check with the vet but I think they're sending out 2 cultures, I know one is for poop. Hopefully the other is to figure out what respiratory disease she has to make sure I'm treating correctly. I'm really glad to hear that worked for you, I appreciate the advice!

Update: We ended up putting Arryn down today. Vet said she only had 25% chance of survival even with fluids and tube feeding and meds. I'm heartbroken, again. Tired of losing my babies. They sent her off for a necropsy so at least we can hopefully get some answers.

The vet said he did think she had a tapeworm. And he also thinks she either had mycoplasma or fowl cholera. Not sure if Tylan 50 was right for either of those, taking a break from the research for the rest of the day cause I've been at it for a while and now I am just sad. But if anybody knows I'd love to know the answer.
