I have become dependent on Tylan 50 to treat by hens for a variety if maladies. The antibiotic is on back order til the end of July! I am wondering if anyone can recommend a similar product??? Please advise. Thank you!

No, I've never had a CRD yet in my flock, but I've read scientific articles that say studies show that fluoroquinolones is very effective against secondary bacterial infections caused by CRD viruses. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9568297

I had bookmarked the site after our antibiotic BYC gurus recommended it as an alternative to Tylan this past year.

I just called Elanco today to ask if they weren’t selling it anymore or something. The vet basically gave me a speech about how it’s not meant for chickens and we should all take our chickens to the vet and get prescriptions.

I have taken several of mine to the vet. But I have yet to find anything that works better than Tylan 50 on respiratory issues. Unfortunately.

I know it. I think the guy was kind of idealistic/self-righteous.

I certainly agree that vet care has its place, but you can’t expect people that don’t have access to, or money for vet care, to just sit idly by and let their birds die when a cure can be obtained OTC for like $22.
