As soon as DH came home he asked me, pleadingly "are they okay to pick up yet?". After a bit of cuddling he went immediately for his camera. I have seriously never seen him so ga ga over chicks before, I think the silkies have gotten to him, sending out mind control vibes from their eggs for 3 weeks. They are adorable, they have POMPADORES!How have I gone without silkies for so long? French hen, you may have rock star chickens, but mine have some serious 50's groove going on, with a splash of 70's bell-bottoms.
As soon as DH gets home he's going to process the adorable pictures he took, I promise!
So far I have 7 out of 9 that made it to day 18 hatched, one has some hatching issues but I hope it will make it okay. One appears to be dead in the shell, I candled it and saw no movement.
So, I am hoping for a total of 8 out of chickenszoo's 15 she sent. Which, considering they traveled 2000 miles and endured a 127degree temperature spike, has got me giddy! I am so glad I didn't toss the eggs after that spike, we are seriously wallowing in cuteness here.
