My daughter in law bought these 6 chicks 4 1/2 weeks ago. As you can see, one is quite ugly when comparing it with the others! I think it might be an Araucana - any other guesses?
I cant see well but I had a slow feathering cockerel golden laced Wyandotte that looked just like that (except that one looks like a silver laced Wyandotte). I would guess whatever it is, it's a boy, just based on how slow it is to feather compared to the rest lol
Could you get a close-up photo of its comb? It looks like a Silver Laced Wyandotte to me, just like the bird in the lower right. Its slow feathering could be a genetic problem, or a sign that it is a cockerel.
thank you for your reply.it sounds like there is a consensus to what it might be.this has been very helpful.I will try to get additional photos in the next couple of days. Thank you all.
Here is a close up of Ugly Chick... I have a silver laced wyandotte chick but it isn't slow to feather like this one... It is at the bottom of the photo is below. You can also see "Ugly Chick" in this photo too.
Ugly Chicks body is also much smaller then the other babies! She has never been ill or sick and is very, very feisty! Probably the most excited, jumpy, funny chick I have!
Hmm. Its legs are not very yellow. A silver laced Wyandotte would have very yellow legs. But it might just be the picture. The others are wyandottes. Does it's legs look darker than the others? Any chance it could be mixed?
