The family thinks that my meaties are cute and the nicest of chickens. To me they are just ugly and dirty. The perfect bird in my opinion to raise for meat. Mine free range all day (they never get more than 20' from their coop) and sleep/eat all day. Only two more weeks til processing.

cornish x are lazy, ugly, dirty


freedom rangers, on the other hand, are rather personable, pretty to look at (mine are the orange, almost look like a quick growing orpington) and very active. 4 weeks old and are quite inquisitive, can fly up fairly well, and are very pleasant and friendly.

they love their food though! and generate a f-ton of heat

I think they are genetically programmed to be ugly so that it is easier to dispatch them.
