Uh-Oh! My husband decided to pay attention

Funny thread! I havent hatched eggs yet, but I a similar scenario unfolded when I called my husband from the feed store and asked him if I could get more babies. They had banties!! Resistance is futile!! So he agreed to it....and I brought 9 home. Well two standard barred rocks, and then 7 bantams. I said honey! come look at our babies!! He looked inside the brooder and said how many did you get?!?! And then he started counting lol The back peddling begins: Well they are bantams honey which means they are smaller, so its really only like having four! I know. I know. Terrible.

We often take things for granted or assume much.

Thinking about it from his viewpoint.
OK now; dogs, cats, fish, whatever are only fed so much in a certain time period. How much do the chicks get in a time period and how often should I check.

How often do I need to check the water not necessarily how much water do they get.

Us chicken folks are always checking so it's second nature for us. We see food or water needs replenished so we do it.

OMG, that's SOOOO true! (Neanderthal moment)! Hubby just asked me something similar last night--I thought you were going to be done by June 15?? Well, my 2nd batch of LBC's are due on the 15th...along with my Blue/black/ splash orps and then I set some of my own LBC’s which are due the following week. Then, I’m probably done for the year because it gets cold & snowy by October—and I don’t want any downy chicks in the snow!

My old man doesn't even ask or comment anymore. He know's it wouldn't do any good. He does comment when I need a new coop built but not too bad. We have sorta an understanding, he doesn't complain about what creature I get and I don't complain about how many are what kind of snake's he get's. I live in a house with one room that's full of snake's. African puff adder, cobra, gaboom viper, cotton mouth's, 10 rattle snake's, copperhead's and many more so I don't think he would ever rock the boat on what I get. I got it made in the shade plus the room with the snake's in it I don't have to clean up. That's his job. lol PEACE:cool:

That could have been bad

but let's not give him any ideas!

I'm listening carefully to this thread! You see, I'm single and someday a man is going to be standing there when I unpack the eggs and put them in the incubator...
