:love They are stunning! I'm sorry for your loss....it sounds like you did all that you could to help him :(

Thank you! ^_^ love them to pieces, they are such characters! Yes I tried very hard with him, but apparently a certain someone upstairs clearly had other plans for him :(

Hi everyone :frow

Hope everyone and their birds are doing well? Have a fab weekend all :highfive:

Hi! Yes everyone is ok, except Dave is a little muddy as he has taken to dragging his head through every puddle today...may have to try washing him at some point :S that could be entertaining!
How are your lot? It's been a while since I caught up with everyone's news!
I hope you have a glorious weekend too :)

Oh poor Dave :( I'm sure he will appreciate a good clean up. Before I seperated my mother hen from the flock the others had picked on her and she was cold wet and filthy. I put her in the kitchen sink in warm water and washed her down. She was better than I thought she would be and just stood there.
Dried her off with the hair dryer on low setting and she looked a whole new bird. Kept her in the house for a couple of days recovery before moving her to her own coop and run.

Have you thought about keeping Dave somewhere different out of the mud?

My lot are looking pretty rough with molt, infact they look terrible! Only a couple of eggs per week now. Otherwise all ok :D

I will try your method to clean him off then! Though I do not think my mum will appreciate me putting a chicken in her kitchen sink :S
I would love to be able to move him inside somewhere, but I don't have anywhere to put him :/ the fact we've had so much rain and snow just doesn't make it any better either. I've tried covering his run over in an attempt keep it dry that way but it isn't working unfortunately :/ I think I may need to just throw some straw down for him or something. Don't really know what to do with him!

Did you use any kind of soap/shampoo to help get her clean? I've seen online that they recommend baby shampoo, I just don't want to harm him by using anything that's all. But he is very filthy, son I thought I will probably need to use something at least.

So...... did Dave get a bath in your mum's kitchen sink?

Not today unfortunately, I've been studying all day as I have a big piece of coursework in for Monday, but I usually do all my chicken jobs on a Sunday, so I may have a go with him tomorrow. Think I may try moving his coop and run somewhere less muddy too, but all this **** snow isn't helping!

Yes I have coop cleaning to do but goodness it's wet and miserable out there today :( Had a few flakes of snow over here in the east but nothing to mean anything.

Great idea on moving Dave, I have my little prison/sick bay coop on the block paving. It's a bit easier to keep clean then.
