Was flicking through some old snaps on my phone and going back to the mud situation - thought I'd share a photo of what my lot did to my garden last year (before we had the pen installed):

They totally annihilated the lawn. It was mud all last Winter, the pic was taken last June...it's now finally, thank God, recovered and back to luscious green since we installed the pen and put a gate across. At least I can enjoy a small section of the garden now and I can even have flowers...in pots....in the flower beds and on the ground, not 10 feet high to stop the birds eating them!

:weee

Wow Sasha that is a bare garden! Birds sure a distructive and good ground clearers. That's why I got the netting so I can fence off where I want to keep them and away from the other halfs flowers! He did a lot of work last year on his decking and borders but they were a prime target for the chickens when they were out

Wish the garden looked like this now, roll on the spring :pop

Hi Barbara :D

You got the part :clap :woot :weee I so hope it goes in easy and all is well then for the MOT :fl Those dealerships sure are robbing bleepers :( When your buying it's all nice and they can't do enough for you but the tables soon turn. My van needs a service soon and I'm loathed to take it back to where I got it from new because of the price but I don't want to mess anything up with the warranty. I can just imagine if something went wrong they would say "You didn't have it serviced by Citroen so your warranty doesn't cover it"

Good going on the coops :D I'm weird with cleaning out and keeping things tidy, I'm the same down at the yard. I have 2 teenage girls in my stable block with me and they are so disorganised and untidy that it's unbelievable and they drive me absolutely batty!!! A clean and tidy place is a clean and tidy mind, that's how I seem to think. I'm pleased to hear your not feeling quite so swamped so hopefully you can get some riding in soon.

I can imagine needing half a dozen eggs of the Pekin! Those first ones I got to incubate were super tiny things and they looked like nothing would have room to grow in them. Only 2 hatched of those though and the rest were infertile. The cockerel is doing his job but only with Ginny the Amber hybrid as the polish that are in with him are not laying yet :( I have started looking around for something to put in the incubator for the end of Feb but I cant decide what :idunno I found a nice site with some polish on but the eggs are £2.50 each and getting them through the post at that price may not be worth it.

I was thinking the same on that turkey farm  Lets hope its not extended any longer!

Have a fab day today Barbara :D

I certainly would recommend them :highfive:

I have the octagon 20 advance EX with humidity pump and I love it! Totally set and forget and very reliable. The only thing I wish was that I'd got the 40 and not the 20.

Hiya

Mine is totalled. Can you please put up pictures of your pen to give me ideas for future DIY projects?

I loved my garden and want to plant more veggies this year. Would really appreciate seeing your set up.

Thanks lovely.

Hiyah...I'll post you the pic i put up a week or so of my pen. It was really easy, not cheap but using the "Heras" fencing was a doddle. We were lucky enough to inherit a purpose built coop however which is huge, it's nearly as big as my living room! :

Here's the pen:

Its got fine gauge wire dug underground and splaying outwards at the base of each panel to (hopefully) stop Mr Fox and my o/h did play a carpenter and create a gate which was hard work but worth it.

Not looking pretty at the moment but hopefully you get the general idea! My once trashed lawn is lovely now after some TLC and lots of grass seed last Summer so don't panic, you'll get it back :)

Hope this helps? I can take plenty more pics if you want to see more?

This one shows the crafted gate quite well:

And here is what the destroyed bit of lawn looks like now:

A vast improvement even without all the flowers that are yet to come in the Spring!
