Happy birthday

I'm counting the days....... I've still 2 in the living room

They're huge now and the cockerel is quite loud

My locked up chickens outside hate me now and I'm not sure how the 2 in the house will react to being outside without a tv
My neighbor says he can't hear the cockerel crowing so if I was ever shouting for help I know I can't bank on him coming to save me

Wow still in the living room! :th

What a bird! :bow

Hello! Cheltenham area here.
Got 8 geese last year thinking of getting chickens and more geese this year, saw this thread thought I'd toss my hat into the ring.

How's everyone doing with this bird flu stuff? Hope no ones in the high risk areas.

Roll on the 28th!

Hi :frow
Welcome to the thread! Mmm... geese! They scare me  Are yours friendly?

My chickens are not happy at being penned in all the time and their runs are getting :sick really quickly! From what I can fathom on the map I'm in a high risk area but I need to look into it more to know for sure.

Thank you very much :)

I can see how they get that reputation lol but they seem pretty nice with me at least, Ryan the gander always asks for hugs.

Yeah same here so much mud!! Threw some straw over the top and poking holes in the ground just to try and help but don't think it's done much
I'm sorry to hear that, really hope that's not the case. How many chickens do you have?

Actually I was wondering if someone could help, I took a glance at the latest bit from defra but the wording isn't making it 100% for me, I take it from the 28th we can let our birds free range aslong as we're not in a coloured section of the map? Probably me having a bit of a dense moment lol

That's nice to hear that yours are friendly. My fear stems from being a kid and getting trapped in the tack room by two of them :( We opened the door to come out and they flew at us hissing and flapping. Every time we opened the door they were there. When your only 7/8 years old geese seem pretty big! They really were nasty things and proper guard geese often chasing us round the farm.

I have my birds on slabs so that I can hose them out but with all the rain we have had it's all just turning to slop really quickly :/ I really can't wait for some drier brighter weather! I have 13 chickens at the moment, 11 polish, 1 Amber hybrid and 1 Amber x polish frizzle. I'm getting the incubator out again next month so fingers crossed I should have more in April :clap

I think if your not in a coloured area you can let them out again?

@Darlingoo Hi there and welcome. I too am confused! I'm not that far from you (Solihull, West Midlands) so my postcode also shows no colour. I'm assuming I can let mine out come the 28th but I'm not sure whether that means they have to be "supervised"....whatever that means! I've got quite a bit of land so that would be difficult for me to do anyway.

How do you keep 8 geese contained? I'd love some but with 5 ducks and 25+ chickens, big geese might be a step too far!

lol
