I'm a little burnt

:( I got T shirt lines on my arms.

Yesterday was so hot, today is just gloomy and really windy

It's turned pretty gloomy here too and breezy. Was hot and sunny this morning though. We did have a big thunderstorm come through so I'm guessing that's cleared the air a bit.

We had thund

We had thunderstorms today. I'm told they are really bad for eggs in the incubator??? Now I'm worried about my goosies! :fl

I've never had a problem with thunder and eggs that are cooking. I'm sure your goosie eggs will be fine :thumbsup

My goose are on day 27 so in lockdown now and I have 10 pheasant in the other incubator on day 7 so I'm going to candle them tonight :clap

Thanks for this. I candled them today as they are on day 14 and they were lively in there so I'm really hoping my farmer friend is wrong with his old wives tale!
This is my first time with Geese so its all a bit new!
Good luck with day 7 and lockdown too! Let us know how they do!I've never hatched pheasant only eaten it...:duc
They are beautiful birds tho!

Maybe he is meaning if the thunder/lightning knocked the power out? But then again eggs should be cooled each day to replicate the mother getting off the nest to eat/poop etc.
I set my incubator to cool eggs for an hour each day from day 7 until lockdown.

I was nervous with my first geese too, have you been misting them with water?

First time with pheasant for me, these will be reared on and released on to the shoot. That is if they hatch!

Oh I'm glad I didn't offend then! Shooting is big business round our neck of the woods too.
I've been following Pete55's Article on here mainly. Have temp at 37.3c, am weighing and adjusting humidity accordingly, am auto turning on a brinsea octagon20 and hand turning 180 3 times a day with misting and cooling once per day for 15 mins. Does that sound ok?
No idea if they'll hatch but they're still alive for the moment!
I checked with my friend he says it's the air pressure from a storm that "messes with them" apparently!
Time will tell I guess!
