UK Member Please Say HI

I tried doing the gassing method earlier and I must of done it wrong as the chick was running around for about a minute until I decided to take it out. I'll try a few testers before I put it in I'd rather it be done quick :hit
You could always take it to the vets at the beginning of the day- they normally do it for a tiny fee or even for free.

:hugs

OK I done its as I suspected it was dead it died before it was ready to hatch I did a eggtopssy after reading through something on here it was fully formed just had to absorb some more stuff sad but its my chicken I feel worse for she hatched the other one and saw it etc and now she beside herself I tried putting her out she kept trying to come back in I ended up carrying her up into the coop she was going ballistic:barniewell if I do decide to do it again I'm using a incubator.

The poor girl and you :hugs
It's a shame I didn't have any small chicks at the moment. I could have brought you a couple to pop under her. Hope she settles soon :fl

Just dropping by to say Hi! (Thanks Yorkshire Coop for the heads up)

I live on the edge of the moor near Huddersfield, W Yorkshire.

I have just a handful of hens - Copper Blue and Wheaten Marans and a couple of blue egg layers, I was sold them as CCL but they must be hybrids of some sort as they didn't grow up to look like "proper" CCL (the girl in my avatar is one of them!). They are hugely spoilt and free range in what can loosely be described as "the garden". We took the house and garden on in what an estate agent would refer to as "in need of modernisation" 18 months ago so are still unearthing all the issues!

One of the Marans is broody so I sat her on some Swedish Flower Hen and Salmon Faverolle eggs. She let me candle the eggs day9 and sadly the Fav eggs were empty (Oh the joys of eBay eggs Grrr!) but I've my fingers crossed for the SFH, they look a really interesting breed... I'll keep you posted.

Hi & welcome to the thread @YorkshireRose :frow

Are you celebrating with the rest of Huddersfield?

That's such a shame on the eggs from eBay :( I'm not a fan of buying from there. Too many unscrupulous folk selling there for me.
Good luck with the SFH eggs, hope you have a great hatch :fl
