Whitestars are probably the best layers ever! I have 4 and they seem to keep laying all year!
Chickens are as noisy as chickens are! Generally they are pretty quiet until they lay, then they can be a bit squawky! Cockerals will make more noise. How much space do you have? If you haven't much space have you thought about bantams? I have a couple of cochins that are really friendly and reasonably good layers. Downside is you only get small eggs from them!Thanks, i’ll Have a look. Are they quiet? And do they mind a smaller space?
Hi! I am from Oxford, England. I've got 13 beautiful hens now (4 have unfortunately died in the past). 10 of them me and my partner have rescued through BHWT. 2 are Araucanas, a thoroughbred and plain, and our Araucana hatched 1 bantam chick when we got her some fertile eggs as she went broody. Their names are;
Big Mumma, Clementine, Pee-Wee, Pandora, Tufty, Speckle, Coco, Nesbit, Pickle, Cupra, Mystik, Ginger and Tinkle.
ThanksHi & welcome to the thread! They have some great names there!
