Hope 2016 is fab and prosperous for you all :D

@rebrascora

Hi Barbara :frow

Hope your good? I'm so pleased to hear you are ok up there and got through unscathed with the flooding. Thankfully we have here, although the river in our village was pretty high! We are up the other end of the village so not sure how far it would have made it.
We had a fab "C" was as rough as a bears bottom on Boxing Day. My day for doing the horses too first thing so I was a shaking wreck! I'm pleased to report though they went out well behaved. Was not expecting it as they stayed in on Christmas Day. I'm not sure I would have been able to hang onto anyone being naughty!!
Good going on getting out on rascal, touch wood he keeps his record of not ditching his rider on course :fl
Been out on Harry last week but not yet this week. Rained heavy again yesterday evening and then froze over night so would not even be able to get out of the yard this morning. I've seen this rug for him, it's got chickens on it :D
700

I stopped myself from getting it but the urge to get a chicken rug is taking over!!

I have a pullet laying too, the little cross frizzle one has resumed her laying. She did lay a while back for a couple of weeks but then quit but she started again last week and laid 5 days on the trot but nothing again for the last couple of days. Pleased to report I've heard no more crowing!! I'm still not sure but nothing is jumping out at me as a boy. Time will tell I guess. I gave my mum 2 polish out of the same hatch as these and she got her first egg on Tuesday from one of them so I'm hoping these will get a wriggle on soon.
My fingers are still crossed that this was just a confused little girl!!

All the best for 2016 Barbara!!

Hi Kim

Happy New Year to you and your family and everyone else on this thread although it's starting to feel like the Kim and Barbara chat line...... anyone else out there, feel free to join in!!

I can see why you are tempted by that rug, It is gorgeous.

I can also see why you are having difficulty identifying the crower. A close up of each one may make it easier but I doubt it. One of them is flying very low under the radar if you have a roo. If I had to chose one of the blues, my gut instinct would be the dark headed frizzle but I really couldn't justify the choice. I'm not familiar with Polish anyway, so if you can't tell there's no way I can. Your birds are really pretty when you see them together like that. The gold laced are very striking. I might have to think about adding a couple of polish to my flock now.

Damp and dismal here again this morning. There must have been a lot of rain over night again. Pleased to hear you haven't been affected by the flooding either.... long may it last for both of us. Some high pressure dry weather wouldn't go amiss right now, even if it meant a bit of frost. I know we has a touch of it yesterday morning but then we were straight back to the miserable wet again. I keep trying to tell myself that the rain is cleansing.... but it's hard to hold onto that idea when you are plodging through ankle deep mud......is plodging a colloquial word or am I miss spelling it?

Anyway, my coffee is finished and I need to head out to the feed store for some hen feed. It closed earlier than scheduled on Thurs and I had to borrow some from my neighbour. I tried to make do with extra mixed corn and even tinned sweetcorn and meal worms, all of which they loved, but you could tell they weren't satisfied and when I filled the feeder up with borrowed layer pellets they went at it like a dog at broth! I would hate to set back those young pullets when they have just started to lay.

By for now

Barbara

Lol@Barbara bloody men always flexing their muscles I just had visions of you going out to your naughty boys Wight a whip lol
BTW I to have had probs on this site recently crashing when typing or missing words!

And hello to everyone and happy New year

I'm pleased I'm not the only night owl or the only one having problems with the site. Sometimes it takes me 15 mins and an awful lot of frustration to type two sentences. It's working fine tonight at the moment though.

Did you have a good Xmas and New Year? I imagine you have had quite a bit of surface water where you are. Hope you haven't been flooded either.

No floods here but a lot of rain chickens sulking ducks love it!!!
Ive had probe tonight
Yeah I had a good Christmas and new year no drink for me though ive got just over 4 weeks until I'm due to give birth totally Shi**ng it now :-o

Of course. I'd forgotten you were expecting! Can't imagine how uncomfortable that must feel at this late stage! Good luck with that! I chose not to have children at a very early age and have stuck to it. I love baby animals but have no maternal instinct with human babies.
I've had very little to drink over the holiday period too though if that's any consolation. It sometimes triggers severe migraines with me and just not worth the risk. Plenty of good food and chocolate though. Thank goodness dairy and choc don't trigger them for me.... can live without alcohol at a push but imagine a world with no cheese or chocolate!!

Is your egg production picking up? I got six again yesterday. Woohoo!! Do your ducks lay through the winter? It's a long time since I kept them and sadly a fox picked them off but I remember how they can turn a puddle into a muddy pond in no time at all.... I don't miss that! They do make such a mess! At least that's a positive aspect of all the rain though.... watching the ducks enjoying themselves.

You two have been burning the midnight oil!! :D
Don't know how you do it :idunno

Nice to see you on again @GGBEAR :frow

Only four weeks left  Im sure your at that most uncomfortable stage right now and are counting the days down!! No wonder your bricking it :gig
I would be too, I've only had the one and that was enough for me!!

Good news on my egg front everyone! :celebrate
I've gotten a polish egg two days on the trot now :woot
I'm not sure if it's one of those blue ones or one of my hens that has started up again. Either way it's extra eggs so I'm super happy. Have got three laying now, the amber the frizzle cross and a polish. Still a lot of freeloaders out there though!!

Hope everyone is managing to stay dry!! Raining again here today :/
Was hoping to get out on Harry this aft but I'm sure he won't want to get wet through and i certainly don't!!

Ha ha well you could say I'm uncomfortable they have said I'm on for another large baby

. Now my last one was 10lb 11oz and I had to be monitored all the way through and I've had the same with this one growth scans all the way through my last scan was just over 3 weeks ago and she already weighed roughly 6lb I got another scan on 12th which is my final one and they should be able to say what they recon she will roughly weigh when born they were bang on the money with last. Hence why I'm so nervous about it.

In response about the ducks laying eggs mine are Indian runners so they only lay from roughly February through to September I'm not sure if this is the same with all ducks?
My chickens I've still got 2 laying the other one whom went through the broody spell and then molt I think has just started to lay again. Fed up with rain
