I've recently been told by another member my beautiful, friendly girls are male.. Which has broken my heart- we can't keep roosters

I'm so sad ! We've bonded so well but I'm sure they will make an amazing part of another flock ....

Oh wow ! Small world.

Russian Orloff ( named Bramble)

Silver lace Wyndotte (Thistle)

No crowing yet, they are both roughly 18 weeks old. They are such lovely birds and have become part of our family... Our breeder did say she would take them back if they happened to be male, she was 90% sure with the Orloff so to find they are both male is a massive blow !

Such a shame! They are amazing birds and so friendly and loving, the breeder did say she would take them back if they were male. She was 90% sure about one so its a pretty big blow that they are both male!!!

We have a Russian Orloff named Bramble and a silver lace wyndotte named Thistle!

They have become a part of the family and it's so sad they will have to go

Hiya :frow

How are they doing now? What your describing sounds all ok for post hatch. Sometimes it can take a while for the umbilical to dry up and fall off. It will do this naturally so no need to pull it or cut it. The umbilical area can be a little swollen after hatch but as long as it's dry and clean they should be fine.

Apple cider vinegar can be good for digestive issues with the chicks and scrambled is a great treat for them that's full of nutrients.

I noticed a few of them seem to have lost their umbilical cords which is good news! And they look all healthy and clean underneath which is even better ^_^
I will try and drop or two of the apple cider vinegar in their water then seeing as they seem to be doing alright without the vitamins now. It's been a rough few days, but I am so proud of them...they've all just kept fighting and it's beautiful

Glad they have settled in back there :D
Have you posted pics here in the what breed gender section?

@Yorkshire Coop
Hey!
1f60a.png

Yeh they are all becoming extremely cheeky and super excitable! They've decided to start playing hide and seek with me...whenever I come in the room they all run under the heat plate, and when I leave they run to see where I've gone...cheeky little things but I love them to pieces! :)
So yes I think they are feeling a lot better now, thank you for asking

You having a good week so far?
I'm off to Skipton auction next week to sell my pair of ruddy shelducks...just hope they go for a decent enough price because they weren't cheap! Shame I can't keep them really...they're beautiful to look at.
