That's great news :D

@Rudies Roost

Lovely garden and so much space :highfive: Nice birds too ;)

Thank you...we're trying hard to get it right but gosh it's hard work. I so love all the space and we are so lucky to have inherited all the outbuildings but the maintenence is tough, the chucks mow the lawn well but as part of the new fencing, I'm going to get a bit of garden by the house for myself which I'm excited about as they eat all my lovely plants otherwise!. Giving up for the day now, time for a bbq and cold cider! :D

I love it! So much room!
I hope so...momma is trying her best to show them how to scratch and what to eat, and there is always plenty of chick crumb...although I suppose they are still only very little and so will hopefully shoot up soon!

Sounds like the chicks will be just fine....What breeds are the babies? I'd love to see a pic of them x

They are a Scots Grey hybrid...not too sure who their mothers are because they all kept laying in the same best box -_- I've got one from when they hatched somewhere I think... Momma goes for me every time I try to get near them, she's very aggrressive!

They look just fine. I'm not familiar with that breed, I will have to look them up. I've got all sorts here but not those. The Thuringian's are a new one for me this year, I've got an Indian Game bird (or Cornish as they are also known) raising the dark chicks and a Partridge Laced Wyandotte (LF) raising the lighter ones....as surrogate mum's, they've been superb. My young cockerel has proved infertile this season....he's not old enough yet i don't think but the fox wiped out my lovely old boy who produced many chicks (albeit they were mutts) so I had to cheat and buy some day old chicks this time! Don't stress.....! Your chicks look great x

Yeh Scots Greys are a rather rare breed, they look very similar to Plymouth Barred Rocks and so get confused with them quite a bit. The five I have inside are pure Scots Greys that I bought off eBay and hatched myself...I only had a 50% hatch though and even that was stressful so I can see why they're rare!
Just bought some Silver Laced Wyandottes from Skipton Feather Auction this weekend and they are gorgeous! Completely fall in love with them...although my Welsummers don't seem to like them very much. Also bought some Welsh Harlequin Duck hatching eggs to try hatching myself...not hatched ducks before so it'll be a learning curve. So excited!

Sounds amazing. I have a Welsummer, she's ace, love her and as i already mentioned, i have a Partridge laced Wyandotte but I'd love a Silver. I have 5 ducks (3 Swedish, 1 khaki Campbell and a Cherry valley), they're fab but I don't want any more. Ducks are messy, messy, messy! I do sell their eggs for a premium though (don't like them myself!). I'd like to see your Wyandottes if you have a piccie (v. jealous!) x

I love my ducks to death! I started off last summer with two Aylesburys as ducklings...both turned out to be drakes and kept trying to mount my hens...so they went and we got two girls instead! They really are quite funny to watch.
Here are the wyandottes...
