Well I started playing with my adult Mechano set (AKA poly tunnel) this afternoon. Ran out of daylight and space but have 2/3 of the frame assembled.... and it's huge!!!! What was I thinking!! I should finish it tomorrow as I've pretty much figured out how it all goes together now. It took me ages to count all the parts, lay them out in order and work out which went where and putting it up on my own made it a bit awkward but proud of the fact that I managed. It's 6mx3m so I'm going to need to find a large flat area of garden to put it on which will be more difficult that anything else and then enlist help to move it as it's on the gravel drive at the moment. Chickens are going to love it when I get it finished though and I'm quite excited about having use of it in spring/summer too.

Kim did you manage to get Harry out for a ride. Hope so and he was well behaved...not that he is likely to be anything else, unlike my naughty beasties. It was certainly a lovely day for it.

If your caretaker friend manages to salvage/repair your poly tunnel I would strongly recommend you get some dog tether (corkscrew) tie downs for it. I got a pack of 8 off ebay for about £17 and I'm pretty confident they will anchor it through even the most wild weather.

If your caretaker friend manages to salvage/repair your poly tunnel I would strongly recommend you get some dog tether (corkscrew) tie downs for it. I got a pack of 8 off ebay for about £17 and I'm pretty confident they will anchor it through even the most wild weather.

Never thought of using my polytunnels as a segregation place.....we have 2 huge ones (as per pic) but pretty sure it wouldn't be enough space for my lot plus...i have a load of Spring bulbs over-wintering in there that the chucks would destroy. Guess I'm lucky that ours survived the high winds...still standing so all is well....:

Hopefully, you can see the polytunnels in the background....i took this pic 2 days ago when the snow was landing....please note the lack of chickens - they were hiding in the coop! Only my 5 ducks were brave enough to venture out!!!

Here was my Orpington Roo and Silkie Roo (in the background) amongst others hiding in the coop at the same time that the ducks were having a party in the snow and enjoying the pen to themselves!!

It is a pain but quite easy.

My lot usually free range over the whole garden you see in the pic so it's all a bit rubbish for them at the moment...roll on the end of Feb :cd

Yay!! It's a "mud bath" competition...thought mine was bad but interested to see other peoples!

So fed up of mud now...I need the birds to free range asap so the land they're stuck on gets a rest. Still, suppose the rest of the garden is getting a reprieve for now.

@Rudies Roost they only have there side as with my last lot i made fatal mistake of letting have total free rein all over the garden and well the outcome was we had no garden the entire plot was mud so we fenced them off like i said previous they are so stupid they don't even let a blade grow!!!!
They get visiting rights to the other side ( aka the promise land )rofl

Hi Barbara

You got your tunnel started Any more progress made on it? Hope you got help to move it and managed to find a flat area. It was the same with my runs, as we were putting them together on the lawn they looked much bigger than the area they were going but thankfully they just fitted on the slabbed area. Hope it will be the same for you and the spot you have chosen for the tunnel.
I'm afraid I was bad again at the weekend and didn't get out Harry, not that he's bothered but I really should have done. Had a lazy weekend really and didn't do much of anything really other than the basics. Have you managed to get out on your beasties at all? Mud, mud and more mud again here I'm so ready for spring

Same here with them destroying everything I got netting to keep them where I want them and to protect the other halfs flowers!

Aiyla is quacking before she's talking? How old is she now?
