Hello! I am enjoying 68 degrees and sunshine but days are getting shorter. Going to try to put up more siding today on my coop. 20170922_140907.jpg
We are near Gretna, Virginia. Breezy today but usually calms down for my evening bonfire. Out in the woods on 13 acres, located on the Pigg River. No idea why two g's in Pig.

Oops I think i shall upload as thumbnail next time, I didnt realize they would be that big lol.
Anyway, the progress of Joffrey, Im still thinking he is a boy, and still probably a Poland. Odd that he is getting whiter, I guess these things happen. He is still the dominant one. Which makes me wonder, what would happen if they are all boys !! I guess I shall have to wait and see.
They are about 4 weeks old now.
OMG chick novice 11 weeks and a crower? hope its not too bad.

In the wild, groups of boys often live harmoniously together, but when you add in hens it gets ugly fast! :( It's like teenagers with hormones - no control whatsoever......so unless you want to get them at least 6-8 ladies each (still no guarantee they won't fight), stick with your roos. They can be just as delightful as hens :)

Thanks for the advice, we will stay as we are then! I have to say they appear more than happy in a single sex group, I just didn't want to be depriving them unnecessarily. They are adorable and such individual characters, plus, I'm allergic to eggs so couldn't care less they are all Roos. Their health and welfare is all that matters. I'd be devastated to upset the equilibrium by introducing ladies after what you've said. Thanks

They look fine to me, not too big at all :) I'm sure Joffrey is a polish, both polish & silkies are hard to sex and it can take a while to know for sure :pop

It's a daft question I know but do cockerels crow to scare off other birds/animals? It's just that today, it seemed like a pigeon was getting a bit close for his liking and he decided to see it off with a good crow  It worked  I don't think we're at full volume yet though! Just practising......anyone need any boys??!
