I see the people struggling to keep coyotes, bears, and pumas out of their coops and think "yeah, really glad I only have foxes to worry about!"

My feral (so called) cats have caught a couple of squirrels recently but they would run a mile if they saw that.

yikes! I imagine a bear-proof feeder is a impossibility. But what do your chickens do when a bear appears? would it try to take them?

I'm guessing they would make a great little snack! Although chickens can fly and I imagine are maybe quicker than bears. If it was the night they'd have no hope though!

They seemed a bit confused - first time they had ever seen one! They were torn between the seed scattered on the ground and running away - eventually they ran!

Black bears won't generally attack chickens etc. they are omnivores and more inclined to seeds, berries etc. although if hungry enough they will kill and eat meat. This was a small young bear probably just passing through
