They're skittish birds by nature. But if hand raised and tamed they are so wonderful mines follow me around the house everywhere. Two Silkies, one white and one black. One pekin cross & one white leghorn, all bantams. Just had to Google francolins, they look like nice birds, are they flighty or placid in nature?
Well I had all of my francolins as chicks spent a lot of time holding them and hand feeding them everyday. The breeders I got them from had francolins that were tamed as well. So yes they've been bred for quite a while by breeders and down the generations they've been tamed.I've also just looked up francolins; they're spectacular and I never knew they existed. I see that there are alot of different species in the wild; are yours of a certain type commonly kept tame?
I'm in the same boat - I have no cage or anything to hard break her and would rather not. Not sure if our eggs are likely to be fertile at this time of year either. I'm not worried really about the chicks more worried about putting her on her own in the broody area - if it is cold will she freeze on her own? I wcould put the other silkie in with her as they co-parented last time so guessing they may keep each other warm?? What does everyone think?Okay, so one of my Silkies has gone broody. Do I break her or use her for chicks? I want to but it's just getting colder and colder and I don't want any harm to come to my favourite little lady or her babies if they do eventually hatch.
Hi there, I am Debby and I live in sw France, yeah I know that’s not uk but I am British so I just thought I’d say Hi !Hi
Im not trying to seperate this forum up but i thought it would be nice to know who and how many UK based members there are here
The main reason is then as the members in USA conduct Egg Swaps and Counrty and County based Sales and Advice then we can see who would be best to ask for local advise
So Any UK member just say Hi and state which Town/County your in
