Have you seen this?
10th Annual 2019 New Years Day Hatch-along!
Personally I wouldn’t want one of my girls raising babies in the cold. I would break her and quick. Get her back in the real world as quick as possible. Silkies are well know for their bloodiness so I would wait for the warm to kick in, I am sure you will have another chance when the weathe is more in the favour for babies.Okay, so one of my Silkies has gone broody. Do I break her or use her for chicks? I want to but it's just getting colder and colder and I don't want any harm to come to my favourite little lady or her babies if they do eventually hatch.

Hi I keep 9 LF ORPINGTONS and I’m in Essex ukHi
Im not trying to seperate this forum up but i thought it would be nice to know who and how many UK based members there are here
The main reason is then as the members in USA conduct Egg Swaps and Counrty and County based Sales and Advice then we can see who would be best to ask for local advise
So Any UK member just say Hi and state which Town/County your in
I will Start
I'm in UK, West London [Berkshire]
Hi I keep 9 LF ORPINGTONS and I’m in Essex uk
I just lost the first of my ex batts.she hasn't been a picture of health for a while but has been eating and drinking fine. Flora lost alot of weight and I struggled trying to get her to put any back on. We found her yesterday on her side in the run. We bought her in and put her next to the radiator with some yoghurt and fresh water. Sadly she died today. Under closer inspection I think she had a tumour, her underside was really hard and painful to touch. Bless her soul. She had her last 15 months being free and being a hen.
sorry for your loss, but also glad you gave her a great life for the second half of her life![]()
Thanks. I'm gutted she didn't make it to Christmas but she's at peace now. The other 5 seem to be OK though.Hi & welcome to the thread!
Sorry to hear thisFlora will be at peace now and she had a great last 15 months.
