My little bantam is looking very pale. Pale comb and pale skin around her eyes and she’s lost a lot of her long feathers around her neck. Any ideas?

Could she be moulting? Has she got small pin feathers coming through from where she is missing them? I have a Brahma that decided to start moulting last week, about a month after everybody else finished!

Sounds like moulting to me too. I have two girls started late this year, too; we have had a relatively mild winter so far, so I blame that.

Yes! She does have little stubby feathers coming in on her neck. So nothing to worry about then?

Why do they moult when it’s cold? Like the opposite to dogs?

Nothing to worry about then! They do seem to do these things when it's not the best of weather! I had two that were moulting quite badly and they shared the same nest box for warmth! They'll be OK though, they do generate alot of heat. How are the others doing?
