Hi Lucy. Welcome to BYC and the thread! Nice bunch of hens you have there. My priorities are like yours but the other way round, I'm the hubby! I'll go hide in the hen house now!

That's funny! Wish my hubby liked our chucks as much as the rest of us do. Just waiting for the big lad to start crowing, then he'll really hate them!!!

I'm just sat outside now and my Araucana cockeral has just started to try and crow! He sounds like a squeaky toy! It's so funny! I hope my neighbours aren't going to complain.

They are funny when they first start Like they need a tad of WD40! My worst one was this little Pekin when it first started, would never win a singing contest!

My hens are still not laying. I am at my wits end to be honest. It's cooler now, they have been all checked for mites, lice, bumblefoot, worms... Pellets available 24/7, same with water. They have a big converted shed for a coop with a big nesting box. Recently even got rid of the pesky flies with a looooot of red top bags and stalosan F in the run.

Still nothing...

Mine have dropped right off in the last week or so. Even my £1 laying machines are being sporadic. If the heat has been affecting them it may take a little while for them to start back up again after any stress from the heat.
