Yeah birds all good although some have started their molt :( Feathers everywhere and not much rent being paid by them! Eggs have dropped off dramatically!
Mine too. My garden looks like a pillow has bust open! Even the pigeons are at it! I'm only getting 5-6 eggs from 20 hens!

Finally got the 'lid' on my Breda coop. Work to be done still but progress! Thankful for great friends & neighbors :)View attachment 1542066 View attachment 1542068 View attachment 1542069 View attachment 1542070
Looks great! Is it a new coop or a relocation?

Hi @Warriorgal. All is well here. I've kept one of the little roos from my hatch, neville! It's funny watching him get chased by the girls! He has no respect for his elders! How are you and joffrey and the girls doing?
Neville sounds a super character, im sure he is one of your treasures.
Joffrey and the girls are doing fine, he has a son, just like him called Perrin. Oh and another son which is a cross with one of my silkies. so i have 3 guys !!!!!!! Perrin is copying Joffreys crows and im sure my neighbours are chewing their cheeks over it. I was going to find a home for joffrey as Perrin was better for breeding,... but i didnt have heart to do it (Think I need to buy a farm lol )

You have a feathered garden then YC, I have some feathers too. I was selling eggs on ebay but im getting less now.

How is everyone preparing for winter? I guess its finding the time between the wind and rain to do things. ?

What breed do you have?
Breda fowl - also known as Kraiikops in Holland (their homeland), not to be confused with Kraiinkops - confused now?? :hmm They are extremely rare here in the US. They are such unique birds - no combs! just a tuft. '

Hiiii I haven’t been on for a while sorry!
My girls had been sleeping in their run over the summer but they got attacked by a cat during the night (didn’t quite manage to get in, long story) so I make them go in their coop now. They were very cross at first but used to it now.
Got my first broody argh!!!!! Been dreading it. She just went broody yesterday, my ONLY egg layer (the other 3 are still freeloading!).
I turned her out of the nest box and took the egg but she’s been sitting all day today on nothing! Not even laid another egg!
I’ve just turfed her out again.
I reeeealllly don’t want to have to put her in a broody breaker or even dunk her in water. I’m flapping!

Hi jemima. Glad to hear your hens are keeping you busy! Lucky that the cat didn't get in though! I have a few round me but luckily they don't seem bothered in the hens. With your broody I'd recommend putting them in a cage. I know it's horrible but it is the quickest way to break them. The longest I had to do it for was 3 days and that was a mega determined Brahma. I've tried other methods and this has been the only way that's worked for me. Don't worry to much about the eggs I'm only getting 6 from 20 hen's! The weather doesn't help now its getting colder and half my girls are molting as well!
